Hepatitis B and C are viral infections that can lead to long-term issues with the liver, if left untreated. They are most often transmitted through the sharing of needles, the receiving of infected blood products or unprotected sex.

Hepatitis B & C can casue serious liver disease and affect millions of people worldwide. Many people with hepatitis B and C have no symptoms until the later stages but symptoms, should they occur, may include:

You should wait a minimum of 30 days from the time of sexual intercourse before taking your test. Hepatitis infections take a period of time to become detectable, and you should wait to ensure an accurate result.

You should also consider getting tested if:

  • You have become sexually active
  • You have had unprotected sex
  • You are experiencing symptoms of a sexually transmitted infection
  • You are entering into a new sexual relationship
  • You have received a notification from a previous partner that they are infected (STDs can remain dormant for years and / or take up to three weeks to become detectable.)

Hepatitis B

Hepatitis B is a blood-borne virus caused by the hepatitis B virus (HBV). Hepatitis can be an acute or chronic illness, if left untreated, the virus can cause serious liver damage such as cirrhosis (scarring of the liver), liver failure and liver cancer. If the infection becomes chronic, lasting over six months, it can be fatal.

Hepatitis C

Hepatitis C is a blood-borne virus caused by the hepatitis C virus (HCV). It is generally asymptomatic so someone who has contracted the virus may not know that they have done so. In cases of chronic hepatitis, upto 20% of people will face liver scarring. Hepatitis C is less common and less detrimental than Hepatitis B.

Why do I need to activate my test?

Activating the test connects you to the unique alphanumeric barcode within your test kit. The laboratory cannot process your sample if the test kit is not activated and linked to you.

Are there medical professionals involved in the process?
We have a team of physicians who will review your order and results. Our nursing team is on standby throughout the testing process and, if you test positive, you will receive a call to discuss your results and treatment options.
When should I collect and return my sample?
Please ensure that the sample is collected before 9am and returned immediately using the carrier method provided within the test kit. Each test includes a prepaid shipping envelope to return your samples to the laboratory. Please do not collect or return samples on a Friday, Saturday or Sunday.
How is my privacy protected?
Keeping your data secure is important to us. All data is completely anonymized to ensure that your privacy is maintained throughout the process. We will not share your information with any third party. All samples are disposed of following analysis.
How accurate is the testing process?
Your samples are processed in the same labs used by primary care providers, hospitals and government schemes.
